National traffic model

Development of a national multimodal traffic model in the framework of the functional task of the ASC TC of the Ministry of transport of Russia "Modeling of traffic flows" (ASC TC FT MTF)

"The national traffic model will improve the efficiency of the transport complex of Russia and create a unified system of strategic and operational forecast of freight, traffic and passenger flows on the basis of traffic models of the national, regional and agglomeration level. This system should become the basis for the innovative concept of multi-level transport planning in the future digital economy of our country".

To develop a methodology and with the use of existing data in the ACS TC create on its basis a national static multimodal macro model of traffic, freight and passenger flows in the territory of the Russian Federation as part of the information and analytical system of transport regulation (ACS TC).

Result
A Methodology for modeling traffic flows at the national level was developed and agreed upon.

A multimodal national static traffic macromodel of the Russian Federation was created and integrated into the ACS TC.

As part of the ACS TC FT ICC, the National transport model provides:
  • Assessment of current and forecast demand for freight and passenger transportation in general, by regions and sections of the transport network, by modes of transport;
  • Identification of "bottlenecks" in the transport network, as well as assessment of capacity reserves of a transport infrastructure;
  • Assessment of target indicators of the transport complex development according to scenarios, regions, routes, modes of transport (including the criteria of cost, time, transport accessibility);
  • Analysis of redistribution (between modes of transport, between routes within one mode of transport) as a result of implementation of traffic complex development measures, including international traffic corridors;
  • Determination of socio-economic effects of traffic infrastructure development scenarios (projects).
The data obtained as a result of calculations are integrated through adapted information services with external systems - automated workplaces of the analyst and manager (AWP) for scenario management and analysis on various key indicators.
